INDICTMENT AGAINST BOROVNICA WITHDRAWN

Judge Kevin Parker ordered that the indictment against Goran Borovnica be withdrawn, leaving open the possibility of reinstating it if it turned out that the accused was alive

At the request of the prosecution, Judge Kevin parker ordered that the indictment against Goran Borovnica be withdrawn, it was announced at the ICTY today. He was charged with the murder of Bosniaks and Croats detained in Kozarac, near Prijedor.

Borovnica had been considered missing since March 1995, and in February 2004, a court in Republika Srpska declared him dead. Although the Tribunal has now withdrawn the indictment against him, the possibility for the reinstatement of the indictment if he turns out to be alive has been left open.

Borovnica was indicted in 1995 together with Dusko Tadic, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2000. After the withdrawal of the indictment against Goran Borovnica, there remain only 11 fugitives on ICTY indictments. The list is headed by Karadzic, Mladic and Gotovina.
